Dorn, Helen
Lifelong resident of Bellingham, WA
Statement:
I paint primarily with soft pastels either in my studio or plein aire. I am most satisfied with scenes with strong highlights and shadows cast wither by sunlight or by the artificial lighting in a room. Pastel allows me to utilize strong, clear colors and to depict the warmth and coolness that intrigue me. I am influenced by my immediate surroundings, by my foreign travel and by visiting art museums wherever I happen to be.
